Belz is a city of district value in Sokal'skom district of the Lvov region of Ukraine. Located on the rivers of Zhechitsa (Rechitsa) and Solokiya (influx of Western Bug), in a 3 km from an ukraine-polish border, in a 12 km from Chervonograda, in a 25 km from Sokalya. It one of the most ancient cities on Western Ukrane, the capital of specific principality, after administrative center of province of Rechi Pospolitoy and motherland of belz direction in khasidizme, but in contemporaneity one of the smallest cities in a country (a population is only two with a half thousand persons). Belz now Galichina belongs to the historical region, although in antiquity, probably, was one of Chervenskikh of cities, and then became part of Volyn. From 2001 Belz and his environs in decision of government of Ukraine became the State history-culture preserve «Prince Belz».
